This post presents selected public domain historical medical images from Hieronymus Brunschwig’s Liber de arte distillandi de compositis, a sixteenth-century work preserved in the U.S. National Library of Medicine collection.

The NLM Digital Collections record attributes the work to Hieronymus Brunschwig and lists its publication as Strassburg: Johann Grüninger, 1512. The record also identifies subjects such as distillation methods, alchemy, chemistry methods, materia medica, and pharmaceutical preparations.

Liber de arte distillandi de compositis is not a conventional anatomical atlas.
