What do you think about anatomy education? How can we teach anatomy in an effective way? People use computers to learn anatomy. How long have lecturers used computers? How long have lecturers used cadavers? From first dissection to the present scientists have used cadavers.
All living organisms can have variations. Can we observe all of possible variations on computers? No, indeed. Using cadavers in anatomy education is essential. Medical students have to use cadavers, have to touch cadavers. Cadavers are the first patients! We all owe our knowledge to cadavers.
Although cadaver is a main part of the anatomy learning, computers are very helpful to understand structures. There are many softwares, 3D anatomy atlases, videos ect.
On the other hand, we want students to study on cadavers but there is a huge problem that we have. The donation! Cadaver donation is nearly two a year in Turkey. We need more donation!
Computers really help us to identify structures. But a student has to see and studies on cadaver first and then use softwares, watch videos and sees atlases.
